Greetings to all of our members and supporters.
Recently I have noted an increase in attendance at our monthly meetings here at the Embassy and I am very grateful to those of you who have been able to find the time to support our speaker program and to those who bring guests. The monthly meetings and speaker program is really the centerpiece of our sub-branch here in DC and because we are in the capital of the United States we are able to leverage off the cosmopolitan makeup of the city. Last month's speaker was able to provide a unique perspective on the current situation in Afghanistan, one you probably won't read in the Washington Post. As an Australian contractor working for the past six years in Afghanistan, Mr. Craig (Shorty) Coleman was able to speak with some authority on issues of 'ground truth' particularly in relation to the commercial realities of doing business inside Afghanistan. I want to thank Mr. Mario Mirarchi who coordinates our Speaker Program for his tireless efforts to spark our interest and knowledge over a broad range of security related subjects.
