ANZAC Day 2013 Washington DC

Each year on the 25th
of April, Australians and New Zealanders commemorate ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day to recognise the sacrifices that Australian and New Zealand servicemen and servicewomen have made − not only in defending their country, but in upholding their nations’ longstanding commitment to peace and security.  To mark this special occasion for 2013, the Australian and New Zealand Embassies are co-hosting a program of events to which all are welcome.

Australian Exhibition – 19 April 2013
‘Afghanistan’
The Embassy of Australia in partnership with the Australian War
Memorial will present commissioned works by renowned
Australian artist Shaun Gladwell in the exhibition,
Afghanistan
.

In conversation –22 April 2013
‘The Meaning of Home’
 
The Embassy of Australia in partnership with the
Centre for Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Studies will present
Pulitzer Prize winning author Geraldine Brooks in conversation
with Australian Broadcasting Corporation Washington Bureau
Chief, Lisa Millar.

Dawn Service - 25 April 2013 
 
The traditional ANZAC Day Dawn Service will be held at the
Korean Veterans War Memorial on the National Mall.
When: Thursday, 25 April 2013
Time: 5.45am - 6.15am (Arrive by 5.30am)
Where: Korean Veterans War Memorial
Independence Ave
Washington DC
Military Dress: Ceremonial Service Dress, or equivalent
with medals, no sword. Navy (Service Dress Blues).
RSVP: Not required 
 
‘Gunfire’ Breakfast - 25 April 2013
 
At the conclusion of the Dawn Service a Gunfire Breakfast will
be hosted by the Embassy of Australia.

Washington National Cathedral.
