there is no parking at the Embassy, paid, off street parking is available
behind and under the Airline Pilots Association- 17th and Mass, and, at 15th
and Mass (1240 15th street). On street two hour metered parking is also
available.

Roy L. Hodges received his
Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and
his Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the Air Force Institute
of Technology. He retired in 2011 as manager of a group of support contractors
providing acquisition program support to the Federal Aviation
Administration. He is a retired US Air
Force Lieutenant Colonel with 20 years of active duty.

His Air Force career was divided between operational aircraft assignments and
system acquisition positions. He retired
as a command pilot having flown several aircraft, principally B-52 bombers and
H-53 helicopters. He served as a select aircrew
member in the B-52; was both nuclear and conventional weapon system qualified;
and completed two Arc Light deployments to Southeast Asia where he flew 88
combat missions. He also served as a pilot
in the CH-53 and earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses in his assignment with
the 21st Special Operations Squadron at Nakhon Phanom RTAFB,
Thailand. He also flew the HH-53 with
the 6594 Test Group in support of the National Reconnaissance Office Corona
/Spy Satellite program. This
organization flew missions to retrieve intelligence data ejected from orbiting
satellites. As a System Program Director he performed increasingly important
systems acquisition duties in the B-1, A-10, EF-111, HH-60A and C-23A programs.

After retiring from the Air Force
he worked as a support contractor for over 25 years providing acquisition
program support to various Department of Defense and Federal Aviation
Administration acquisitions. He assisted
the DoD as a Senior Principal Engineer supporting the Army Blackhawk‑Hellfire
Missile Program and the Air Force H-53 Service Life Extension Program. As a Senior Principal Engineer and Task Area
Lead he supported FAA programs including the Voice Switching and Control System,
Multimode Digital Radio, and National Airspace System Voice Switch.

A lifetime history buff and
student of the Civil War, Mr. Hodges spent 17 years as a civil war living
historian at several National Battlefield Parks, including Gettysburg,
Antietam, Monocacy, Cold Harbor, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness,
Point Lookout, and Fort Harrison. In
this capacity he represented the Second Regiment US Sharpshooters and provided
living history interpretation of both the battlefield and life of a civil war
soldier.
